Climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned bus that leaves the Cox Business Center promptly at 10 a.m. Once you arrive at John Zink and after brief safety review, you’ll tour the one-of-a-kind flare test facility, located at the Research and Development Test Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

John Zink Hamworthy Combustion maintains a variety of fuels to match or simulate operating conditions. They fire air-assisted flares, steam-assisted flares, sonic flares, Biogas and utility flares, to measure noise, radiation, smokeless capacity and the utilities of each. John Zink Hamworthy Combustion uses the latest testing technologies. Such thorough testing helps ensure safe, efficient and practical flare operation.

The flare facility is used to test developmental flares, pilots and tips, and customer demonstrations are also performed.  

This is the most comprehensive test facility complex of its kind!
